Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury-Risk-Prediction Quiz (ACL-IQ)
The ACL-IQ is a short (less than 3 minute) and reliable test to assess your ability to accurately assess the ACL injury risk of athletes performing a drop vertical jump. Your judgments are compared to the concurrent biomechanical gold standard for assessing ACL injury risk.
-
Development/Validation
The ACL-IQ was developed by testing over 200 individuals in various disciplines (Exercise Science, Sports Medicine and General Population) in order to optimize the test for sensitivity, discriminability, difficulty, and guessing. The test has recently been cross-validated in a larger U.S. sample (~400) and a comprehensive model of performance developed which acords with contemporary views on expert-performance/decision making. Beyond the desirable psychometric properties, the ACL-IQ provided evidence of convergent validity as it is a robust predictor of other measures of judgment accuracy and general ACL knowledge.

Intended Use
The ACL-IQ is a research instrument which represents an interdisciplinary contribution to longstanding research programs aimed at preventing injuries and understanding human performance. This work provides a foundation for future research investigating the degree to which simple observational screening can prevent ACL injuries. Further research is needed to use the ACL-IQ to justify the use of observation as a screening tool for ACL injury risk.
